2013 Mid-Hudson Voyage of Discovery banner

In 1609, Captain Henry Hudson led a mixed Dutch and English crew on board the Dutch jaght d'Halve Maen to the New World, chasing reports of a river that might provide a northwest passage to the Pacific Ocean. Before spending the month of September exploring the river that would one day bear his name, Hudson spent the months of July and August making repairs to his ship, braving storms at sea, exploring stretches of the East Coast from Maine to Virginia, and interacting the unfamiliar cultures they met along the way.

In 2013, a group of nine sailors-in-training from Cooperstown and Bethlehem, NY has signed onto the Replica Ship Half Moon to recreate the experience of sailing in Hudson's era. Join us for three days on the Hudson River as our training sailors experience a summer Voyage of Discovery of their own!
